Worship Service – “Us and Them: A Cautionary Tale” – Guest Speaker, Herb Orrell
February 4 @ 10:00 am - 11:15 am
For UUs, working for justice and equity is not a culture war; it’s a spiritual path driven and guided by our belief in the worth and dignity of everyone—both the oppressed and the oppressor. Join us as we explore ways to ensure that when we stand for justice and equity, we are also standing on the side of love.
Bio: Herb Orrell is a native New Yorker who grew up on Long Island, where he enjoyed surfing and sailing. He began studying music when he was eight years old, and the guitar has remained a close companion ever since.
He graduated from Drew Theological Seminary and served as a United Methodist minister in the New Mexico Annual Conference. He then went to work in the oil industry, where he specialized in organizational development and quality control.
Herb is an author, composer, an avid camper, and baseball fan. He is also a member of the Namaqua UU Congregation. He lives with his partner, Debbie Gentry, in Fort Collins, CO.
