This service is a special request from Janet Gillette who purchased the “topic of choice sermon” from clare at the NUUC auction over a year ago. \nGuest Bio: dr. clare hammoor is a collaborative educator and theatre-maker committed to justice and joy with experience teaching\, directing\, and devising in universities\, public and private schools\, professional theaters\, and prisons. clare is fascinated by object-oriented ontologies\, playing with things\, ritual work\, and interdisciplinary collaboration. \nclare has taught at New York University and University of Denver among other institutions and given lectures across the US and Europe. Sociologist Zygmunt Bauman has defined this era as one with a “liquid culture” — a time of constant mobility and change that is requiring all aspects of our life to be more agile. In this service\, we look at improv as a spiritual practice that can support us in a playful way as we live in these unprecedented times. \nBio: Rev. Lydia Ferrante-Roseberry is a long-time friend of Namaqua UU. She blends her passion for justice with a constant quest to live a joy-filled life. Rev. Lydia is the former minister of the Boulder Valley UU Fellowship in Lafayette. She is currently a consultant for the UUA’s Stewardship for Us Team\, and a part-time organizer for Together Colorado\, the multi-faith statewide organization committed to a multiracial democracy where all people are valued.

Molly Housh Gordon\, of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbia\, MO will lead the Sunday Service at General Assembly 2024. \nA lifelong Unitarian Universalist from Tulsa\, Oklahoma\, the Rev. Molly Housh Gordon is the minister of the UU Church of Columbia\, Missouri\, where she is currently suing the state of Missouri for their unconstitutional abortion ban alongside 13 other multi-faith clergy co-plaintiffs. Molly is passionate about red-state UU ministry\, community organizing\, and mutual aid. In addition to her ministry and organizing work\, Molly is a published essayist and poet completing a Doctor of Ministry in Creative Writing and Public Theology. Alongside her wonderful spouse\, she is the delighted parent of two very fierce young children and one very chill old dog.

But music and singing have been my refuge\, and music and singing shall be my light” \nThis refrain from Frank Ticheli’s beautiful Earth Song is one of the pieces that the choir will be sharing on this day\, our first Music Sunday.  We will explore our connection with\, our responsibility to\, and love for our beautiful planet through song.  In musical composition\, we often hear the interplay between dissonance and harmonic resolve.  It is not a large leap to think about how we experience that same conflict and resolution in our natural world.
